Urgent Call for Help During the Freeze Event
The Challenge for Our Neighbors
Whenever severe weather strikes, our unhoused neighbors suffer greatly. Both extreme cold and intense heat can turn into dangerous situations for many individuals who rely on Hope Center Houston. Our guests include the elderly, the sick, the lonely, those struggling with addiction, victims of trafficking, and people facing physical or psychological challenges. Many are extremely vulnerable and need our support.
Hope Center Houston’s Mission
Hope Center Houston opens its doors to those in need, providing vital services to help them navigate their complicated circumstances and offering hope. With the help of volunteers from the community and various agencies, we deliver addiction recovery, mental health care, housing assistance, medical and dental care, spiritual support, and much more. We see each guest as a child of God and embrace the opportunity to care for them as His hands and feet.
Inclement Weather Shelter Operations
This coming weekend, as the cold and wet weather approaches, Hope Center Houston will serve as an inclement weather shelter. We plan to bring our guests indoors to keep them safe from the elements. The shelter will be open continuously from Saturday through Tuesday, 24 hours each day, ensuring that no one must sleep outside in the cold. Guests will have access to food, a warm and comfortable place to sleep, entertainment like movies, and caring volunteers to meet their needs. Security will be present around the clock to maintain a safe environment.
How You Can Help
Providing this level of care is a significant challenge. We are currently seeking additional funding for security and meals. Efforts are underway to purchase food, gather enough blankets and sleeping bags, recruit volunteers, and coordinate security. However, we do not yet have the extra financial support needed to cover all the costs for this event, including food and security. There will be a place for YOU to participate by providing for some of the essential needs.

A Call to the Community
Hope Center Houston is the only facility in Northwest Houston that will be open to serve the unhoused during this freeze event. We believe that everyone in our community is our neighbor, regardless of their circumstances. We ask you to consider helping those in need right here at home.
With prayers for support,
Debbie Johnson
